Here are some suggestions on funding ideas to help with improving your sports facilities including the purchase of our frost, rain and germination sports field covers to protect your investment. Whether you are a large or small sports club, voluntary or community organisation, local authority or educational establishment, there are grant opportunities available to assist.
School PTA (Parent, Teachers Association)
If you’re a school, why not involve your PTA to help fundraise? As well as opening up opportunities for all-year-round access to the school’s playing fields, it also secures access to the PTA for their outdoor fundraising events, avoiding unnecessary postponements and loss of income.
Sport England’s mission is to encourage people and communities across the country to develop sporting habits for life.
This involves investing in organisations and projects that will attract people to take up and continue participating in sport, as well as creating opportunities for people to excel at their chosen sport.
To facilitate this, Sports England have launched a series of funding programmes open to a wide range of organisations. These include sports clubs, voluntary or community organisations, local authorities, schools, colleges and universities.
The funding programmes that are currently open are:
Sports England Small Grants
This Small Grants Programme ultilises Lottery funding to make awards of between £300 and £10,000 to not-for-profit organisations to help more young people (aged 14+) and adults take up a sport and form a sporting habit for life.
Sports England Sportsmatch Fund
Sportsmatch makes grants to not-for-profit organisations that have secured sponsorship to deliver new community projects for young people (aged 14+) and adults to take up and continue sporting activities for life.
Sportsmatch uses money from the government to encourage new sponsorship of grassroots community sport. Priority is given to applications seeking to match sponsorship from the commercial sector but donations from private individuals or charitable trusts are also acceptable provided they meet the sponsorship eligibility criteria.
Awards of between £1,000 and £100,000 can be made to match funding from no more than five sponsors, with each sponsor contributing a minimum of £1,000.
Sports England FE Activation Fund
As part of Active Colleges, Sport England is investing £8 million through the Further Education Activation Fund. It will be given to revenue projects that will allow more college students to take part in sport more regularly.
